Gussetry started because a friend opening a ceramics shop was quoted a thousand bags with a nine-hundred-pound minimum, for a shop that would sell forty pieces a month.
Nothing technical. Bag printers quote a thousand because they print onto the flat sheet and then make the bag up, and setting up a bag-making line for twenty-five units is genuinely uneconomic. Our answer was to stop making bags at all: we buy blanks made up, in six styles and four sizes, and print onto the finished bag.
That loses full-bleed printing and gains everything else. A small shop can have a proper branded bag for the price of a week's flowers, and can change it next season without a stockroom full of the old one.
Five of us on the first floor of Vyner Street Works: two on press, one on finishing and dispatch, and one on artwork — plus the person who answers the phone and does the quoting, who is the reason anything ships on time.
Everything is FSC-certified, and the kraft is recycled content. That is a floor, not a boast — it is what the mills supply as standard now, and any printer telling you it is a premium is selling you something. What genuinely varies is lamination: our matt film is compostable-certified and costs us more than the standard one, which is why we do not offer gloss at all.
